PROPOSED CONSTITUTION/BY-LAWS FOR THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF THE ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS




ARTICLE I- PURPOSE

The purpose of the organization shall be to provide an opportunity for individuals who have benefitted provides a venue for continued networking among students who have been associated with the organization.

ARTICLE II-MEMBERSHIP/DUES

Section 1. Membership is open to any former state officers, former district officers, former workshop junior and senior staff, former delegates and honor delegates to state convention, former national conference participants, former region V/Lead Conference participants, and past and present student council advisors.

Section 2. Membership levels will include a regular yearly membership, a student membership, a multi-year membership, and a lifetime membership. Fees for each membership level will be established by the Executive Board of the Alumni Association.

ARTICLE III-OFFICERS

Section 1. Officers of the Alumni Association are elected for three-year terms with three officers rotating off the board each year to maintain continuity.

Section 2. Officers of the Alumni Association include: Past President, President, President Elect/Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Event Coordinator, Foundation Coordinator, and Historian.

ARTICLE IV-DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section 1. Past President-this is a member of the Executive Board with experience to give advice and offer suggestions about subjects brought up by the Executive Board or members of the organization.

Section 2. President-Shall preside over all business of the organization. The President would also serve as an ex-officio member of the Illinois Association of Student Councils Executive Board.

Section 3. President Elect/Vice President-This person will be in line to become President in the year following term as President Elect. This officer will be the District Liaison Coordinator and communicate with those individuals and report back to Executive Board.

Section 4.Secretary-This officer is responsible for officially taking all minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board and/or membership. The Secretary shall be in charge of all official correspondence and filing documentation as required by the government to maintain status of the organization.

Section 5.Treasurer-This officer is responsible for the funds and the receipt and disbursement of monies of the Alumni Association. This officer is also responsible for the coordination of fundraising activities. This officer must maintain accurate financial records and assure that a yearly audit is performed by

Section 6. Membership Coordinator-This position is in charge of recruitment and retention. The Membership Coordinator will be in charge of identifying individuals who have been associated with the IASC based on membership criteria listed in Article II and to share information about the Alumni Association with them.

Section 7. Communications Coordinator-This position is in charge of keeping the membership informed of all activities and events of the association.

Section 8. Events Coordinator-This position is in charge of the logistics in planning the events and social functions of the association. This officer is in charge of arranging places for meetings, dates for functions, and any other details such as food and speakers which might be required.

Section 9. Historian-This officer is in charge of keeping the official records of the Alumni Association and working cooperatively with the Executive Director of the IASC to maintain official records of the Illinois Association of Student Councils.

ARTICLE V-DISTRICT LIAISONS

There will be thirteen liaisons to correspond with the existing IASC districts. The District Liaisons will be responsible for speaking at District Conventions to promote the Alumni Association to graduating seniors, arranging to speak to IHSA member schools not active in the IASC to discuss the benefits to joining the IASC, and coordinate regional alumni meetings or chapters and social events with other liaisons.

ARTICLE VI-COMMITTEES

As needed, committees may be formed at the discretion of the President or Executive Board.

ARTICLE VII-MEETINGS

Section 1. The number and schedule of meetings shall be determined by the Executive Board.
